Artist Bio
Jon Tiger attended the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, NM in 1971 and 1974, and also studied art at the Unvierstiy of Science & Arts of Oklahoma in 1975 and at Okmulgee Tech in 1976. Tiger has traveled extensively throughout the United State to various art festivals. He also exhibited in a 13th century castle in Celle, Germany, in 2002, along with other Tulsa artists.
Jon is Muskogee (Creek) and resides at his rural studio home outside of Eufaula, OK. His ancestors, like all Five Tribes members, came over the "Trail of Tears" forced removal in the 1830s. His ancestors were from Eufaula, Alabama.
Tiger works in various mediums, such as graphite pencil, watercolor, acrylic, and prisma pencil. Originals as well as giclee prints are available.
The mayor of Eufaula, OK declared November 1, 2004 as Jon Tiger Day.
He has won numerous awards since 1971. Tiger has assisted high school art students for competition and has made public school presentations to student addressing Native Art. he is available for such shcool projects, and his work may be available for month-long exhibitions for schools, universities, or organizations needing a display of Native Art.
