These ribbon shirts are made of either 100% cotton or cotton blend material. They require about 4 yards of material each. There is approximately a yard in each sleeve, a yard each for the front and back of the shirt. They are made completely by hand and each shirt is decorated with ribbons that compliment the material.
The ribbons are all about 15 inches long. All seams are bound. There are usually 3 sets of ribbons in the back and 2 in front. Each set of ribbons will usually have from 3-6 ribbons. All ends of the ribbons are singed so they will not ravel.
All shirts are made with a yoke both front and back. The material attached to the yoke is approximately 34 to 40 inches wide in both the front and back panel depending on the size of the shirt. This material is gathered in the center back to fit the back yoke in two places, one on either side to fit the front yoke. The sleeve is tightly gathered at the wrist and attached to a cuff. It is then gathered at the shoulder seam and sewn in. The ribbons are all sewn into the seams and bound. There is a 6 inch slit on both sides of the shirts. There is also a 6 inch slit in each sleeve beginning at the cuff. The cuff has buttons for fastening and the neck is finished with bias material and has no collar. Yoke is open so they are easy to put on and take off. There is a hook and eye for closure.
Because of the pattern these is made from, they will fit a very large man. The amount of material makes it comfortable and does not restrict movement when dancing. Once the bandoleer and sash is on, it will fit any man from average to very large.
They are made in small to medium, medium to large and large to extra large. The large to extra large will accomodate a man of over 300 pounds whether he be short and stout or tall and just plain big.
